Slaughterhouse Series – Fashionable Foto Fables

McKinney Gough is a hat designer and costumer in Asheville, NC. When I lived in Asheville I had the opportunity to work with her on her concept for a series of photo stories using her hats to tell some common folklore tales. We’ve been sitting on these photos for a few years, so this Halloween season we decided to set them loose! I’m trying out a software by Adobe to do these “glideshows”. Click the link and it takes you to the story, then just scroll to read it.

The Slaughterhouse Series of Fashionable Foto Fables is McKinney Gough’s brainchild. She created hats for each villain and wanted a storytelling experience to show them off, hence, the series! We collaborated on this project with a number of very talented models and hair and makeup people. A great project, and it fits McKinney’s dark and twisted brand that lives in worlds of vintage fashion glory. I say that in the highest regard for her creative brain! Formidable!

This story is based on the legend of Lizzie Borden, the one accused but then acquitted of murdering her parents with an ax who was later acquitted of the crime. The blood is fake and photoshop, but it is graphic. Be warned.

Please enjoy, and let me know how the experience of the glideshow is for you! I’ll be playing with it for the rest of the series and hopefully will learn to master it! Practice practice practice!
